JAMMU, Oct 25: The highly anticipated Toycathon 2024, organized by SCERT J&K, has engaged over one lakh students from classes 6 to 12 throughout the Union Territory, aiming to promote creativity and joyful learning. Under the leadership of Prof. (Dr.) Parikshat Singh Manhas, Director of SCERT J&K, this initiative encourages students to design innovative toys and games.
Following the completion of School Level Competitions in which more than 4,200 schools participated, the District Level Competitions (DLC) are now underway, scheduled from October 21 to October 28, 2024. Students were shortlisted through an online scrutiny process at the District Institutes of Education and Training (DIETs). The competition is being conducted in a blended format, with some DIETs hosting events online and others offline. As of October 25, 14 DIETs have completed their DLC, with the remaining expected to finish by the end of the month.
Each DIET will submit a list of nine selected students (three from each category) for the Grand Finale. Continuing the momentum from Toycathon 2023, SCERT J&K is facilitating the intellectual property registration of students’ designs, ensuring their innovative ideas are recognized. Last year, 115 students received Certificates of Registration of Design from the Patent Office, marking a significant achievement in student innovation. Toycathon 2024 reflects SCERT J&K’s commitment to fostering creativity and quality in education.
