UDHAMPUR, Oct 25: DDC member of Panchari-Moungri, Jasvir Singh has voiced for long term urban plans for Udhampur to meet challenges regarding basic facilities and services.
Addressing a press conference here today, Singh highlighted the problems like water scarcity, poor parking facilities, waste management, power crisis and traffic management.
He urged to the concerned authorities to review Jal Shakti project for Udhampur and provide financial support for the same so that Udhampur residents may get some relief.
The DDC member said that construction of road connecting Sawalkot Hydro Power Project via Supply Morh, Mansar, Kainthgali, Panchari, Lander and Galiote can be a change maker as it will save cost, time and energy.
He also demanded construction of new roads for unconnected habitations and said that the government should address the long pending demand of providing higher education facility to the students of Panchari and Moungri as they are still awaiting the establishment of colleges there.
Stressing on school education, he said that there is a need for immediate recruitment of teaching staff as schools are facing shortage of resources.
The DDC member also said that schools were also facing shortage of accommodation as per the requirement of New Education Policy and many schools are still working in private buildings, damaged building and in the houses of local residents.
Jasvir stressed on the early completion of JJM projects with quality and maintenance of PMGSY roads.
He demanded recruitment at large scale to fulfil the vacant posts in various government departments.
Singh stressed on the creation of job opportunities in Tourism and Horticulture sectors as J&K has yet to explore these sectors fully.
