KATHUA, Oct 25: In a significant move to enhance infrastructure in the remote areas of Kathua district, Col Mahan Singh (Retired), DDC Chairman, accompanied by Thakur Darshan Kumar, MLA Basohli today kick-started the construction work of a crucial 2.3 Km link road from NABARD Road Draman to Darkodi.
This vital project, being undertaken under the State Sector scheme at an investment of Rs 1.44 Crores, aims to improve connectivity for the residents of Draman Panchayat, linking them to Hutt Mashka and extending further into Himachal Pradesh. Additionally, this road will connect to the Tikkri-Jamna PMGSY road, facilitating access to Bhoond.
The inauguration ceremony saw the presence of key local leaders and officials, including Sarpanch Madhu Bala, Ajay Kotwal, Gurmail Singh, Soni Mohd, and the AEE PWD Sub Division Basohli along with his dedicated staff. Media representatives were also in attendance, highlighting the importance of this initiative for the local community.
During his address, Col Mahan Singh highlighted the efforts of the DDC Council of Kathua over the past three and a half years, which have been instrumental in accelerating the overall development of the district. As a result of these initiatives, he noted, the residents of Kathua voted overwhelmingly in favor of the BJP during the recent Lok Sabha and Assembly elections.
Col Mahan Singh assured the community that the Government would continue to prioritize the enhancement of infrastructure and basic amenities in the region. He emphasized that the development of such vital road links is essential not only for economic growth but also for improving the quality of life for the residents of Kathua.
This new road project represents a significant step toward ensuring better connectivity and access to essential services for the people of the Bhoond Block and surrounding areas.
