JAMMU, Oct 25: During a function, Prem Nath Bhat Memorial Trust (PNBMT) here today awarded MLA Ranbir Singh Pathania, who is also a lawyer and a writer, for his contributions to the national cause.
A handout stated that the award is a tribute to Late Shri Prem Nath Bhat who was a dedicated amateur journalist martyred in Anantnag, Kashmir and it honours those who have contributed significantly to national cause while maintaining the displaced Kashmiri Pandit (KP) community’s spirit and memories of exile.
The ceremony featured Neha Jalali, Director of Press Information Bureau (PIB), as chief guest with K.B Jandyal, former IAS presiding over the function.
Past recipients of PNBMT’s Amateur Journalist Award include Dr. K.L Chowdhry, Squadron Leader Anil Sehgal, Dr. R.L Bhat, Dr. Jitendra Singh (Union Minister), Dr. K.N Pandita (Padma Shri awardee), Yash Bhasin and Avtar Bhat.
Sundri Lal Koul, Trust Secretary read citation for this year’s awardee, extolling Pathania’s dedication and achievements.
The event began with Saraswati Vandana by Neha Pandita and concluded with National Anthem.
A.K Raina provided a moving overview of both Trust’s works and of the life of Shri Prem Nath Bhat.
K.B Jandyal in his address praised Pathania’s multifaceted talents.
The chief guest, Neha Jalali commended the Trust for its enduring commitment to honour Prem Nath Bhat’s legacy and for its advocacy in support of the Temples Bill and other social causes for the betterment of society.
The event was conducted by Ramesh Marhatta and vote of thanks was delivered by Trust Chairman C.L Pandita.
