DIG JSK Range reviews security situation in Samba-Kathua districts

SAMBA, Oct 26: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police for the Jammu-Samba-Kathua (JSK) Range, Shiv Kumar Sharma, conducted a comprehensive review of the security situation in Samba and Kathua districts today.
His visit focused on assessing the preparedness of local security forces for potential anti-terrorist operations.
During his visit, DIG Sharma interacted with Special Operations Group (SOG) personnel, Sub-Divisional Police Officers (SDPOs), and Station House Officers (SHOs) to evaluate their readiness and operational strategies.
In Samba, the DIG inspected key locations including AIIMS, Vijaypur town, and Samba town, accompanied by senior officers including SSP Vinay Kumar, ASP Garu Ram, DySPs Rohit, Bhisham and SDPO Mukund.
His visit continued to Kathua, where he assessed the security measures at the Border Security Force (BSF) post in Paharpur.
There, he met with SSP Kathua Shobit Saxena, ASP Rahul Charak, and DySP Ops Tilak Raj Bhardwaj, alongside BSF officials.
In addition, the DIG reviewed security protocols at various inter-state police posts along the Punjab border.
He emphasized the need for heightened alertness and operational readiness, relaying directives from Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat.
All officers were instructed to maintain high vigilance, conduct regular searches in forest areas known for terrorist sightings, and coordinate with the Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF).
In light of upcoming festivals, officers were also advised to increase checks in busy markets and public spaces to ensure safety and security.
