Candle-light vigil organized to pay homage to Shopian martyrs

JAMMU, April 30: A candlelight vigil was organized today by volunteers of “The Golden Heartz Foundation” at Brigadier Rajinder Singh Rotary, here, to pay homage to the martyrs of Army soldiers killed in an encounter in Shopian Town, recently.
A large number of people took part in candlelight vigil and paid homage to the martyrs.
Major Mukund Vardarajan and Sepoy Vikram Singh of 44 Rashtriya Rifles were killed by militants during an overnight gun battle that started last Friday in Shopian.
Senior advocate and founder of “The Golden Heart Foundation”, Sunil Sethi greeted the personnel of the Indian Army on this occasion.
He said, “The boundless contribution of our army to nation building is amongst its greatest legacies. Be it ensuring the nation’s territorial integrity, fighting the scourge of terrorism, reaching out to fellow citizens in times of natural calamities, our Army has consistently performed all duties with dedication and professionalism”.
Sethi further said the Indian Army continues to serve with outstanding professionalism, dedication and bravery in guarding our borders, providing support in internal security and assisting the civil administration during natural disasters.
Today, we pay special homage to those of its members who have made the supreme sacrifice for the country,” he said, adding the nation is always proud of their contributions.
