Even after 12 yrs’ wait, school building remains incomplete

RAJOURI, Oct 27: Even after the long wait of over 12 years, a government school building in Thannamandi area of district Rajouri has remained incomplete.
Official sources said that the construction work on the building of Govt Primary School, Saji Bagla ( Mangota) in Education Zone, Thannamandi commenced during 2012. A local villager of the area Abdul Rashid donated his one Kanal land for this school for the benefit of local children. The building for this new School was sanctioned under SSA during 2010 and an amount of Rs 5,64,000 was sanctioned and the work on the project was started during 2012.
Sources further said that an amount of Rs 2,80,000 was spent on the school building. The contractor later, abandoned the work, claiming that Education department failed to release further funds.
There are 70 students in this Govt school and they are suffering due to lack of school building. The concerned teachers say that as per ZEO Thannamandi the funds said to have been lapsed and due to this reason the work has been suspended. He claimed that he has written to the higher authorities to provide adequate funds for the completion of this building as the students are badly suffering. The response from the higher authorities is yet awaited, he added.
