KISHTWAR, May 1: The Vice-Chancellor of Jammu University, Prof Mohan Paul Singh Ishar today visited Kishtwar Campus and took stock of ongoing construction work of Academic Block, boys hostel and girls hostel.
The VC was accompanied by Registrar Prof Manoj Kumar Dhar, Special Secretary to VC, Jai Kumar Sharma, Coordinator Campuses Dr Daud Iqbal Baba and others.
The Director Kishtwar Campus Prof Shohab Inayat Malik briefed the VC about the construction work. Academic block of the campus is likely to be taken over by the University from the construction agency by next month while boys hostel and girls hostel are also likely to be ready by October 2014, he informed.
Later VC presided over an induction programme of M Sc IT, M Sc Geology (H & SD) and MA Kashmiri students. In his presidential address, he said that students should be given quality education at the campus as courses which are being taught at Kishtwar Campus are highly job oriented.
Prof Ishar said that Kishtwar Campus is the only campus which is not only accelerating in the academics but also organizing seminars/ conferences and co-curricular activities time to time and has become a hub of cultural activities in whole Chenab valley.
Earlier, Prof Shohab Malik presented a brief profile of Kishtwar Campus. He informed that in last week of June, a national seminar on Kashmiri language would be organized at Kishtwar Campus. He demanded that permanent positions of teaching and non -teaching be created in the campus on the pattern of  Bhaderwah Campus so that Kishtwar Campus could flourish more and more.
Naseer,  Incharge IT Department, gave a presentation of Kishtwar Campus and conducted the proceedings of the programme while Mubasher Hussain, Liaison officer presented a vote of thanks.
JU Register Prof Manoj Dhar informed that university has already taken up the matter with the State Government regarding permanent teaching and non-teaching position and positive response is expected very soon.
