Residents hold protest against PDD, block Jammu-Pathankote NH

SAMBA, May 1: The residents of village Karsoli in Bari Brahmana held a protest demonstration and blocked the Jammu-Pathankote National Highway against Power Development Department (PDD) for not repairing the damaged transformer.
Hundreds of people from village Karsoli including women and children assembled on Jammu-Pathankote National Highway and held protest demonstration.
The protestors raised slogans against PDD and accused the department of inordinate delay in repairing damaged transformer.
As the National Highway remained blocked for around an hour, hundreds of vehicle got struck resulting into long traffic snarls.
“We have been demanding replacement of damaged transformer in the locality to overcome the crisis”, a resident of the area said.
Academic as well as competitive exams of the students are going on. People are seen sweating in these hot days and whole area plunged into darkness, but ironically, the PDD authorities are using dilly-dallying tactics to install the transformer”, he alleged.
He added that inaction of the PDD has forced them to come on roads and held protest.
On getting information, senior police officers including DySP Sajad Salaria rushed to the spot and pacified the agitators.
On the assurance, the protestors dispersed and the vehicular movement was restored on the National Highway.
