JAMMU, Oct 31: The Forest Department under the authority of the Range Officer Bahu, has seized a vehicle bearing registration number JK02AD-6433 for violation of section 41 of the Indian Forest Act, 1927 along with related land Transport Rules.
The seizure was carried out following the discovery of irregularities in the transportation of forest produce. The vehicle was found in possession of a manual tax invoice, presented by the owner as transportation permit. However, this document does not constitute a valid Transportation permit as required under existing Forest Produce Transport (FPT) regulations.
Further investigations revealed that the tax invoice was issued by local saw mills in violation of established guidelines, thus raising concerns about compliance with regulatory norms. The case is currently under legal proceedings in the authorized officer’s court, where further action will be determined.
