JAMMU, May 2: In connection with Bhagwan Shri Parshuram Jayanti celebrations, Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha today solemnized Yagnopaveet of around 200 boys amidst Vedic rituals.
Learned scholars and Pandits, including Pt Mool Raj Malhan Shastri, Pt Krishan Lal Shastri, Pt Bhupinder Dutt Shastri, Pankaj Shastri, Ravinder Dutt Shastri and Ajay Shastri performed the rituals and recited Vedic hymns.
On the occasion, prayers were also offered for world peace and prosperity. The grand religious function was held at the Parshuram Bhawan, Brahman Sabha near Parade Ground where a large number of people assembled for the occasion.
Pt Ved Parkash Sharma, president of Dogra Brahman Pratinidhi Sabha along with his team comprising Varinder Mohan Magotra, Satya Paul Sharma, Nanak Chand and Madan Lal Sharma supervised and coordinated the whole function.
On the occasion, the Brahman Sabha unanimously resolved to leave no stone unturned for protection of cows and impressed upon the law enforcing agencies to deal the elements with iron hands who are directly or indirectly involved in bovine smuggling. Such elements hurt the religious sentiments of common people and hence they must be punished strictly under the law, the resolution said.
The Brahman Sabha also resolved that there should be no caste based reservation but on economic backwardness criteria. This is the high time to fight against caste based reservation policy, which has played a havoc in the country, DBPS members opined.
Besides, the DBPS stressed that every Hindu should work for imparting the Vedic culture reciting Gaytri Mantra and fighting anti-religious tendency.
Prominent among those, present during the function, included Dr Som Dutt Magotra, Satya Nand Sharma, Purshotam Chander Sharma, Chander Mohan Sharma, Dr Ramakant Dubey, Devkinandan Pargotra, Advocate Shri Kerni, Surinder Sharma, Shiv Charan Dass Sharma, Ganga Parkash Sharma Sat Paul Sharma, Shanti Sawroop Baru, Jia Lal Sharma, Kuldeep Modi and others besides members of women wing of DBPS.
The religious function was followed by a grand Bhandara.
Meanwhile, the Purkhoo unit of DBPS also celebrated Bhagwan Shri Parshuram Jayanti under the supervision of Bal Krishan Sharma and Vijay Sharma.
