UDHAMPUR, Nov 2: In two separate cases, Police today arrested four narcotics smugglers and seized 21.38 grams of heroin like substance from their possession.
A police team from Police Station Chenani led by SHO Jaswinder Singh, while performing routine vehicle checking at Chenani naka point, National Highway, recovered 17 grams of heroin like substance from a Tavera vehicle bearing registration number JK01T-1659, which was on its way from Jammu towards Srinagar.
Police immediately arrested driver along with two other persons travelling in the vehicle. They were identified as Owais Ahmed Rather, son of Khazir Mohd Rafi of Pantha Chowk, Srinagar; Aqib Ashraf, son of Mohd Ashraf of Pampore and Younis, son of Nisar Ahmed of Wuyan Pampore, Srinagar.
In this connection, a case FIR No. 170/2024 under sections 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered in Police Station Chenani and the investigation is going on.
In another success, a Police team of PP Roundomail, while performing routine patrolling duty at Roun- Baredian link road, held a person sitting on a motor bike JK14K-5523, which was parked on the roadside.
On frisking of the said person, namely Manjit Singh, son of Thakar Dass of Kaghote, Ramnagar, 4.38 grams of heroin like contraband substance was recovered from his possession.
Police arrested the accused and registered a case vide FIR No. 437/2024 U/S 8/21/22/ NDPS Act in Police Station Udhampur.
