UDHAMPUR, Nov 2: An Army jawan of 37 AMSD, allegedly ended his life by shooting himself with his service rifle at Old Command Hospital, here today.
The deceased was identified as Hav Mantu Kakati (37) son of Raseshwar Kakati, resident of Somali Bori, Sanipur Kalabani Assam, He was on sanitary post gate number two at Old Command Hospital Udhampur when he allegedly shot himself with his service rifle. Cause of provocation could not be ascertained.
He was immediately shifted to Army Hospital Udhampur where doctors declared him as brought dead. Udhampur Police have initiated inquest proceedings in this connection and further investigation is going on.
Meanwhile, according to the police report, one Kuldeep Kumar (51) son of Pari Chand, resident of Neeli Bharanra, Tehsil Majalta District Udhampur, was found dead at his house under suspicious circumstances.
On being informed by the family members, a Police party from Majalta Police Station rushed to the spot and shifted the dead body to PHC Majalta for the post-mortem. Majalta Police have registered the case and further investigation is going on.
