All India Sculptors Camp begins at Leh

LEH, July 5: A week long All India Sculptors Camp took off at Cultural Academy Open Theatre here today. The camp was inaugurated by Executive Councillor, LAHDC, Leh, Ghulam Abbas Abidi.
As many as 15 nationally known sculptors from within and outside Jammu and Kashmir are participating in the camp.
In his inaugural remarks, Abidi said that Ladakh was known for its rock art the world over and holding of such a camp would go a long way in promoting the art form.
Lauding J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages for promoting art and culture of Ladakh, Abidi said that LAHDC would extend all possible help to the Academy in the field of art and culture.
Earlier in his welcome remarks, Academy’s Senior Cultural Officer, Leh, Tsewang Paljore described Ladakh as a living repository of rock art and said that the ongoing camp would attempt to highlight this in a pronounced manner.
The exhibition of the sculptures, to be prepared during the camp days, will be held on July 11.
