10 fresh dengue cases reported

JAMMU, Nov 4: Ten fresh cases of dengue were reported in Jammu region on Sunday, taking the total number of patients affected with the disease so far this year to 5059 in the Union Territory.
“With 8 more cases in Jammu district, the number of people affected with the vector-borne disease in the Jammu district has raised to 3156”, a health official said, adding, more than 90% cases have been reported from municipal areas.
He said the Jammu district is followed by Samba with 539 cases while 473 cases were reported from Kathua, 257 from Udhampur, 214 from Reasi, 125 from Rajouri, 117 from Doda, 59 from Poonch, 47 from Ramban, 19 from Kishtwar and 19 from Kashmir region. Thirty-four local cases have also been reported from other states and UTs.
The official further informed that a total of 27809 patients were tested for dengue this year till yesterday out of which 5059 cases were found to be positive. However, it is a matter of relief that only one death has been reported due to dengue this year.
He further revealed that out of 10 dengue cases reported yesterday, 8 were adult (4 males and 4 females) and 2 were children (1 male and 1 female). “A total of 475 patients affected with dengue were hospitalized and of them 385 were discharged after successful treatment while 78 are still under treatment in various hospitals across the UT “, the official added.
