Students of Govt Nursing College protest for basic facilities

UDHAMPUR, Nov 4: Students of Government Nursing College Udhampur protested in front of the Deputy Commissioner office, here today, for demanding basic facilities in the college.
They were demanding BSc staff, transport facility, drinking water facility, hostel and washroom facility etc.
They alleged that this Government Nursing College exists only on papers. “This Government GNM School Udhampur was upgraded into Nursing College Udhampur in 2020. The college admitted the first batch of BSc Nursing in 2021. The college offers a four-year BSc Nursing Degree Course along with previously running nursing and paramedical courses in various streams but no required facility has been added till date,” they explained.
Students said that this Government Nursing College Udhampur was started with the aim to produce the competent nurses with clear critical thinking skills who are caring, motivated, well disciplined, and responsive to the changing needs of the profession, healthcare delivery system, and society. However, they added, in absence of basic facilities, they were unable to get the required skills and knowledge. The institute is located in the village Bailey of district Udhampur, approximately ten kilometers away from Udhampur city.
Later, Jai Singh, Tehsildar Udhampur and Jugal Kishor Sharma, ARTO Udhampur pacified the protester and assured the students to provide the required basic facilities.
