Disinformation has been used by the militants and separatist outfits as an instrument to mislead the masses of people in and outside Kashmir with a motive to malign India in whatever way possible. Use of internet has been an addition to the effort of maligning the State Government and other stakeholders. Hatred and anger are spread by publicising through net on Face book false and fabricated stories that are detrimental to the security of the State. Obviously there must be a source of funding for these miscreants.
Kashmir police have detected at least 12 such cases and have registered cases against those who have been running the Face book page. We presume that this trash is meant for the consumption of the jihadis in order to instigate them to anti-India campaigning. Now that the miscreants have been identified, the police and the law should deal with them strictly so that others take a lesson from it. Any lenient approach would be self defeating. Further, officials should be trained professionally to handle such cyber crimes.
