Reacting to the resolution passed in favour of the restoration of Special Status to Jammu and Kashmir in the Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, CLP Leader Mir said that the Congress Party through a resolution passed in Congress Working Committee (CWC) on Aug 5 2019 has endorsed the resentment of people against downgrading and bifurcation of erstwhile J&K State.
The move was described as “undemocratic” and “unconstitutional” on the part of the BJP Government at the Centre.
“It was apparently crystal clear during the assembly elections that people vehemently oppose the reorganization of Jammu and Kashmir and want their dignity and honour to be restored besides safeguarding their rights”, Mir said
The Congress Party strongly emphasized that Statehood to Jammu and Kashmir with constitutional guarantees including protection of rights, land, jobs, resources, cultural identity, etc must be restored, without any further delay, he added. (Agencies)
