Zelenskyy holds phone conversation with Trump, agrees on developing further cooperation

KYIV, Nov 7 : Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy  on Thursday  held a phone conversation with US President-elect Donald Trump, during which the they agreed on developing further cooperation.

“I had an excellent call with President Donald Trump and congratulated him on his historic landslide victory-his tremendous campaign made this result possible. I praised his family and team for their great work. We agreed to maintain close dialogue and advance our cooperation. Strong and unwavering U.S. leadership is vital for the world and for a just peace,” Zelenskyy wrote on X.

Wall Street Journal has earlier reported that Trump’s team had proposed a number plans to freeze the Ukrainian conflict, however, the US leader had not approved any of these plans yet.

Trump has repeatedly criticized Washington’s approach towards solving the crisis and laid strictures on Zelenskyy. At the same time, the US president-elect has promised to solve the Ukrainian conflict in one day.

A presidential election took place in the United States on November 5. Republican candidate Donald Trump, who served as the US president from 2017-2021, was declared the winner by all leading race callers and networks, namely the Associated Press, Decision Desk HQ, Fox News, CNN, NBC, ABC and CBS from the National Election Pool consortium, as he secured enough votes in the Electoral College to win the election.

Democratic candidate Kamala Harris conceded defeat in an address to her supporters, and US President Joe Biden congratulated Trump.

The Electoral College, the group of presidential electors from the states, will vote for the candidate whom each state’s voters have chosen on December 17, and the results will be approved by Congress on January 6. The presidential inauguration will take place on January 20.

Trump became the first US president since the 19th century to be elected to non-consecutive terms. (UNI)
