34 injured as bus rolls down

POONCH, May 3: At least 34 persons were injured, some of them seriously, when a private passenger bus rolled down into a gorge in Krishna Ghati area of  district Poonch this evening.
Reports said the mishap took place at around 5 pm when the passenger bus, bearing registration No. JK02BB/4513 was on way to Jallas in Poonch from Jammu via Mendhar and Krishna Ghati (KG). As it reached near Dharati in KG area,  about 28 km short of Poonch,  the driver lost control at a curve and the vehicle rolled down into nearly 100 feet deep gorge.
Immediately after the incident, the Army personnel from the nearby units of Rashtriya Rifles R and TA battalion  and the local residents of the area rushed to the spot. They rescued the injured from the gorge and brought them on the road. The police also reached there after some time. The injured were shifted to District hospital Poonch and Army hospital Krishna Ghati. The Army officers also reached the spot and supervised the rescue operation. All the 34  injured were shifted to Poonch and local Unit hospital at KG in Army and private vehicles.
Five seriously injured including bus driver were further  referred to Govt Medical College Hospital, Jammu. They were identified as driver Hardev Singh (45), son of Makhan Singh, resident of  Dharra Dullian, Sarwar Jan (27), wife of Mohd Ishaq of Jallas, Vidhya Kour (55), Mohan Singh of Dhara Dullian,  Varinder Singh, son of Sardar Singh Dhararti and Suriya Bi, wife of Mahroof Hussain of Salani.
DC Poonch Sajjad Ahmed Khan and Additional SP Poonch Amit Gupta also reached the hospital to inquire about the condition and supervise treatment. Local MLA Ajaz Jan also rushed to the hospital after coming to know about the accident. Some of the injured were provided treatment at KG Army hospital. The other injured were identified as Maqsood, Sargara Bi, Ruksana Kouser, Charanjeet, Mansara Bi, Zahida Bi, Mohd Yakoob, Mohd Mushtaq, Mukhtar Ahmed, Farida Bi, Sayed Ahmed, Rayees Ahmed,  Shabir Ahmed,  Arshed Ahmed, Asma Bi, Inderjit Singh, Mohan Singh, Aijaz Ahmed, and Ghulam Mohammed.
