GOA, Nov 7: SBI Foundation recently celebrated the graduation of its 11th batch of SBI Youth for India Fellows, who dedicated 13 months to rural development across India.
Held at SBILD Panaji in Goa, the event honoured 53 fellows, with a remarkable 60% female representation.
Through the program, SBI Foundation has built a strong network of over 580 alumni, with 70% of them continuing in the social sector, contributing to India’s rural development goals.
The event was inaugurated by Binod Kumar Mishra, DMD (HR) & CDO of SBI, who also launched the ‘Sanjeevani’ ambulance service under SBI Foundation’s Gram Seva Project.
This initiative aimed at providing primary healthcare access to remote communities with limited medical facilities.
Mishra praised the fellows for their dedication, emphasizing the importance of their experiences in rural areas for India’s growth.
SBI Youth for India Fellowship allows young individuals to focus on key development areas such as health, education, water, technology, rural livelihood, and women’s empowerment.
Working with leading NGOs, fellows undertake projects aligned with 10 UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), addressing critical issues in over 250 villages across 20 States. These efforts have positively impacted more than 150,000 people.
Sanjay Prakash, MD & CEO of SBI Foundation, highlighted the dedication of the fellows, noting how their work helps bridge the gap between skilled youth and underserved communities.
With programs like SBI Youth for India, the Foundation supports India’s sustainable development efforts by empowering youth to tackle rural challenges.
Since its inception in 2011, the fellowship has encouraged hundreds of young Indians to engage in meaningful rural projects.
Many alumni have gone on to start impactful ventures, such as Siddharth Daga, co-founder of NeoMotion, and Shriti Pandey, founder of ‘Strawcture,’ recognized by Forbes 30 Under 30 for sustainable building solutions.
SBI Foundation’s initiatives, including the SBI Youth for India Fellowship and Gram Seva, reinforce its commitment to India’s social development, fostering positive change at the grassroots level.
