UDHAMPUR, July 5: Police today recovered over 110 kilograms of poppy straw and arrested one person.
Giving details, SSP Udhampur Ashkoor Ahmed Wani, said that on a tip off, police party from Udhampur Police Station laid a naka at Jakhani chowk and intercepted a tavera car bearing registration number JKO1R 6954.
During checking, police recovered 110.200 gram of poppy straw and arrested driver namely Mohd Amin, he said, adding, that two of his accompliance fled from the spot.
He said that during interrogation, Amin told that he brought the poppy straw from one Mohd Sufi Dar, resident of Sangam, Bijbhera and has to deliver the same to one Satpal, resident Hiranagar, district Kathua.
A case under relevant section stands registered at police station Udhampur and investigation started.
