JAMMU, Nov 8: PoJK Vishthapit Sewa Samiti (VSS) today said that any effort to bring back Article 370 and 35A will be strongly resisted by 10-11 lakh PoJK displaced persons with in J&K and about 2.5 – 3 lakh settled in rest of India.
This was stated by Dr Deepak Kapoor, president of PoJK VSS, while addressing a press conference today at Kotli Bhawan, Rehari Colony (Jammu). He expressed his concern over the recent resolution passed in Assembly for formulating a committee to deliberate with the Government of India regarding reinstatement of special status as was in erstwhile J&K state.
“After abrogation of Article 370 and 35A on 5th August 2019, there were many positive developments like issuance of Domicile certificates to PoJK displaced persons settled outside J&K as this right was denied to them earlier. Also the West Pakistan refugees, Valmiki community persons and Gorkha community persons were given this domicile certificate right for the first time,” Dr Kapoor added.
Dr Kapoor stressed that any attempt to restore Article 370 and 35A would be detrimental to all these communities. He said that any effort to bring back Article 370 & 35A will be strongly resisted by 10-11 lakh PoJK displaced persons with in J&K and about 2.5 – 3.0 lakh settled in rest of India. He appealed to the newly elected Government to shift their focus in solving the problems of public and PoJK displaced persons instead of getting involved in such issues like restoration of Article 370 & 35A.
Arun Choudhary, Damnjeet Singh, Surjeet Singh, RK Chibber, Gurmeet Singh and Jagjit Singh were among others who participated in the press conference.
