KISHTWAR, Nov 11: In a tragic incident, a mother along with her minor son and daughter were burnt alive late last night while they were in sleep at Badhat-Jashar village of Drabshalla area in the mountainous Kishtwar district.

As per sources, fire broke out in the house of Khurshid Ahmed under suspicious circumstances and his wife, Nazia Begum along with her daughter Amna Bano, 7, and son Rizwan, 4, got trapped inside as the trio was in deep sleep and were burnt alive.
Though locals and cops reached the spot immediately on getting the information about fire but by then the fire had killed the three persons.
Bodies of all the three victims were brought to District Hospital Kishtwar where after post-mortem these were handed over to their relatives for last rites.
A large number of locals including the maternal family of the deceased lady reached the hospital and started protest alleging that it was murder.
They demanded action against husband of the deceased lady and his second wife as Khurshid Ahmed had married twice and Nazia was his first wife from whom he had four children.
“Other two daughters of the deceased lady lived in a Madrassa while the two minor deceased children were with their mother at the time of the accident,” one of the protesters informed.
On receiving the news of the tragic incident, MLA Kishtwar, Shagun Parihar reached District Hospital and expressed her condolences to the victim family.
She assured impartial investigation in the case from Police Department.
Police has registered a case in this regard and started investigation.Senior police officers assured the protesters that proper investigation into the case will be done.
Meanwhile, another incident of fire took place at Chatroo in Gujjar-Bakarwal Hostel which caused massive damage to the Hostel.
Alert staff of the Hostel had safely evacuated the inmates well in time so there was no loss of life or injury to anyone but the belongings of the inmates were reduced to ashes in the fire.
Police has registered a case in this regard also and started investigation.
