JAMMU, Nov 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today charged Congress and its “allies” in Jammu and Kashmir with doing what Pakistan wants. He was referring to resolution brought in the Legislative Assembly by the Government and passed seeking restoration of special status (a reference towards Article 370).
Addressing massive election rallies at Chimur and Pune in Maharashtra, Modi said the Congress and its allies are unable to digest abrogation of Article 370 which resulted into implementation of Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s Constitution in Jammu and Kashmir and that is why they brought and passed a resolution in the Legislative Assembly for its restoration.
“They (the Congress and allies) have been doing what Pakistan wants,” he said.
Charging Congress and its allies with playing politics on violence and separatism, the Prime Minister said the entire country saw what happened in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly.
“You might have seen it on television, read it in newspapers or watched on Social Media. J&K burnt for decades because of separatism and terrorism. Many jawans of Maharashtra sacrificed their lives in Jammu and Kashmir for protecting our motherland. This happened because of Article 370 imposed by the Congress. As soon as we revoked Article 370, Jammu and Kashmir was linked to mainstream and the Indian Constitution was implemented there,” Modi said.
He said the Congress is speaking the “language of Pakistan”, by seeking to restore Article 370 in Kashmir and declared that nobody can bring back Article 370 as we have buried it deep in the ground.

“The country will never agree to the demand for restoration of Article 370. But, the Congress and its allies have passed a resolution in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly to again implement Article 370. Those who are showing Constitution books to the country and distributing blank books in Maharashtra, I would like to ask them, they (Congress) have ruled the country for 6-7 decades, but why was the Constitution made by Baba Saheb Ambedkar not implemented in the whole of India?” he said.
Modi said with the blessings of the people, your sevak, has buried Article 370 deep into the ground which separated Kashmir from India and promoted terrorism and separatism.
“Article 370 did not allow the Constitution of India to be applied in Kashmir. BJP abrogated Article 370 and hoisted the tricolour. We restored peace in Kashmir and thwarted the plans of the separatists,” he said.
PTI adds: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today said that it has always been the mentality of the ‘shahi parivar’ of Congress that it was born to rule the country.
“This is the reason that after Independence, the Congress never allowed Dalits, backward classes and Adivasis to progress. The Congress gets irritated with (the topic of) reservations. In the 1980s, when Rajiv Gandhi led the party, it published an advertisement raising questions over the special rights enjoyed by Dalits, backward classes and Adivasis,” Modi said.
This old advertisement has been shared on social media, he said. It reflected that party’s anti-reservation attitude, he added.
“It is a dangerous game of the Congress to break your unity. If a tribal society gets divided into castes, its identity and strength will be lost,” Modi said.
He added that the prince of Congress has himself announced while he was abroad. “That is why I say that we should not fall prey to this conspiracy of the Congress. We have to remain united”.
“If we stay united, we will be safe,” Modi said. “If you do not remain united, then the Congress will snatch away your reservation,” he added.
Attacking the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance, Modi accused it of being the “biggest player of corruption” and stalling development in the State. Modi said the MVA is detrimental to Maharashtra’s growth.
“Maharashtra’s rapid development is beyond the reach of the Aghadi,” Modi said. “They have done a PhD in putting a brake on developmental works. The Congress has a double PhD in it,” he said. “Aghadi yani bhrastrachar ke sab se bade khiladi’ (Aghadi means the biggest players of corruption),” he added.
