It is because of the steep decline in local recruitment of terrorists that Pakistan has been forced to push foreign terrorists into Jammu and Kashmir using different routes including the International Border (IB) and Line of Control (LoC).
About 25 terror-related incidents have been reported in Jammu and Kashmir this year so far leading to martyrdom of 24 Army personnel including officer while in 2023, 27 jawans had sacrificed their lives in a total of 25 incidents.
At the same time, security forces have eliminated 61 terrorists in 2024 including 45 in the hinterland and 16 on the LoC. Among the slain ultras, 21 were Pakistanis. In 2023, 60 terrorists were killed—–35 within the hinterland. Twelve of them were Pakistanis.
Intelligence sources pointed out that reduction in activities on the Line of Control and decline in local recruitment of terrorists are positive indications.
A number of terror related incidents have also been reported in the Jammu region this year including attacks on security forces in almost all districts of the Jammu region.
A number of terrorists have also been eliminated in the counter-terror operations.
