Gunshots Heard During Search Operation In J&K’s Kulgam

Srinagar, Nov 13: Several gunshots were heard during a cordon and search operation (CASO) by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Wednesday, officials said.
The operation is going on in the Badimarg area of Kulgam to trace the suspected terrorists who are believed to be hiding in the area . The operation was launched following an input about terrorist presence in the area, officails said.
“Gunshots were heard during the operation,” they said.
There has been an uptick in encounters between terrorists and security forces in Kashmir this month. Eight terrorists have been shot dead in eight encounters this month. Most of the encounters have taken place in north Kashmir.
On Tuesday morning, terrorists and joint forces exchanged fire at Nagmarg forest area in Jammu and Kashmir’s Bandipora district. However, after the initial gunbattle, there was no fresh contact with terrorists. The massive combing operation in the area continued on Wednesday. (Agencies)
