BJP alleges ECI silence over its complaints against NC

SRINAGAR, May 5: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today accused Election Commission of India (ECI) of maintaining “criminal” silence over Model Code of Conduct (MCC) violations by National Conference (NC) leaders including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah despite frequent complaints registered against them.
“We respect election authority, but to utter pain no serious view was adopted over complaints lodged by BJP regarding NC president, Dr Farooq Abdullah for his communal attacks on BJP leaders,” BJP State vice president and incharge Kashmir affairs, Ramesh Arora told reporters here.
Arora said NC’s communal speeches are threat to national integration.
The BJP leader said that his party registered 37 cases of MCC violation in the State, in which seven complaints were registered with strong proof against leaders in Kashmir, but, both State as well as Central bodies of ECI has failed to take any action against them. “ECI should introspect, otherwise it will lose its credibility,” he said.
“BJP will keep identity and culture intact in Kashmir and appealed the people not to vote in favour of such forces. BJP has the capacity to resolve Kashmir issue and will follow the line where it was left by Atal Bihari Vajpayee during NDA  rule,” said Arora.
