BARAMULLA, May 5: Former J&K Chief Minister and patron of  People’s Democratic Party, Mufti Mohd Sayeed today said that the ongoing Lok Sabha polls have set the momentum for change in the Jammu and Kashmir State.
Addressing a large public rally at Sonawari in Baramulla Parliamentary constituency today, Mufti Sayeed said that the politics of deceit and exploitation practiced by the National Conference, all these years has reached its dead end and people have started looking towards PDP as a viable regional alternative. Whether in or outside the power, PDP has stood by the people and never compromised their interests unlike others. He said right from its inception, the party has been advocating the cause of the people of J&K with unflinching consistency.
“The most daring challenge for PDP, after winning  2002 elections, was to be with the people, show solidarity with them  and give them the much needed sense of security and relief on development front”, Mufti  said, adding that assuming power, PDP unlike others not only stuck to its pro-people agenda but pursued the same with perseverance and consistency.
Mufti sad PDP with is pro-people policies tried to build people’s stakes in peace and economic prosperity but unfortunately, the anti-people policies of present NC- led regime have again started pushing J&K into a gloomy scenario of despair and alienation. The present Government would only be remembered for rampant corruption, innocent killings, repression of youth and reign of terror, promoting socio-economic instability, increase in crime rate, shocking scams, drug abuse, mis-governance power and water scarcity, frustrating traffic snarls, dilapidated roads, unemployment and maladministration.
While complimenting PDP cadre for having successfully carried the party’s political and economic agenda to the grass-root level, Sayeed said the party leaders have sacrificed their personal interests for the larger objective of ensuring peace, prosperity and dignity for the State and its people. The untiring efforts of PDP cadre have made this party to become people’s movement.  He appealed the people to ensure the victory of  Muzaffar Hussain Baig from Baramulla Lok Sabha seat.
Former Finance Minister and senior party leader Tariq Hamid Karra also attacked NC led Government for its policies and maintained that PDP will grab all the three seats in Kashmir. He alleged that Omar Government has failed  on all the fronts.
