Srinagar, May 6: An Army soldier today committed suicide by shooting self with his service rifle at Pantha Chowk in Srinagar outskirts.
Sources said Naik Surjeet Kumar of 53/19 Regiment, posted at Pandrehthen Army camp, shot himself with his service rifle.
“After hearing gunshot his colleague rushed toward him where he was found lying in a pool of blood,” they said.
They said Kumar, a resident of Muzafarpur, Bihar, was immediately shifted to Army’s 92 hospital here in Badamibagh where doctors declared him brought dead.
