JAMMU, Nov 19: The Department of Public Policy and Public Administration, Central University of Jammu, celebrated Constitution Day with great enthusiasm and reverence.
The event featured D C Raina, Advocate General of Jammu & Kashmir, as the chief guest and he shared his profound insights on the Indian Constitution.
In his address, Raina highlighted the visionary framework of the Indian Constitution, emphasizing its foundational principles of justice, equality, and liberty. He elaborated on the principle of natural justice and underscored the sacred status of the Constitution, drawing comparisons with Constitutions of other nations. He also highlighted the original manuscript of the Indian Constitution, calligraphed by Prem Behari Narain Raizada, as a testament to its historical and artistic significance.
D C Raina discussed the interplay between the executive, judiciary, and legislature, explaining how India adopted Parliamentary systems tailored to its unique needs.
Prof Sanjeev Jain, Vice Chancellor of Central University of Jammu, delivered the presidential address, highlighting the enduring significance of the Constitution in shaping India’s democratic framework. He emphasized the importance of fundamental duties alongside fundamental rights and stressed the role of the Constitution in promoting women’s empowerment.
The celebration commenced with a warm welcome by Prof Santap Sanhari Mishra, Head of the Department, who introduced the chief guest and other distinguished attendees.
Prof Yashwant Singh, Registrar of the university, led the gathering in taking the Constitution Day oath and reading the Preamble. A special exhibition showcased the original Constitution, celebrating its exceptional calligraphy.
Prof Aswini Kumar Nanda, Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Humanities, also shared his thoughts, focusing on the Constitution’s role in fostering equality and economic progress.
The event concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr Mohit Sharma, Assistant Professor, who acknowledged the contributions of all participants.
Dr Rouchi Chaudhary, Dr Sushil Kamble, Dr Indra Pratap, and Jai Bhawani also graced the occasion with their presence.
