JAMMU, Nov 19: Kashmiri Pandits have urged the Government to clarify the reported return move of 175 displaced Pandit families to Valley in the first instance out of 4600 families who have opted for return to Valley.
Expressing their utter surprise over the reports, they warned that no return formula will be fruitful which fails to take the geo-political aspirations of the community into consideration. Any return in peace meals will not be in the interests of the community and it will boomerang, they added.
The displaced Wing of the Democratic Progressive Azad Party (DPAP) which met at Jagti township today while discussing the issue urged the Government that it should clarify reports about the same.
DPAP Displaced Wing president, Sanjay Dhar its chairman Piaray Lal Pandita, general secretary, Raj Kumar Ticku said through certain sections of media they have come to know that Government is working out of resettlement policy of displaced KPs with declaration of migrant status by the MHA in consultation with U.T. Government regarding 175 families out of proposed 4600 families. In this regard the KDD Wing of DPAP appeals the Central as well as U.T. Government to issue a white paper regarding the list of proposed 175 families who have opted for return in the first instance with their living registered status after displacement and with the terms and conditions laid in the return policy.
The DPAP leaders also expressed that most of the displaced people are languishing in camps, in hazardous position but no such move was initiated for their return to their homeland Kashmir till date.
They warned the Government that no return formula should be worked out without taking the camp dwellers and their leaders into confidence.
They also reiterated their demand of working out a concrete policy for return ,rehabilitation and resettlement with economic, employment, educational ,compensations packages so that the community is not forced to migrate again.
