PATNA, Nov 20: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Wednesday said his government is taking all possible required steps to improve quality of education in the state including recruitments of more teachers and providing infrastructural facilities for the purpose.
Kumar, while addressing a function after handing over appointment letters to teachers, who cleared competency test for being upgraded as ” Vishista Sikshak “, said that his government had been taking a number of steps to improve the quality of education since 2005 when he became Chief Minister of the state. Before 2005, teachers were not available in sufficient number in schools and school buildings were in dilapidated condition, he added.
” A number of incentives were given to girl students to increase their presence in schools which included cycle and uniform schemes “, the Chief Minister said, adding that amount being given to girls after passing intermediate examination was increased from Rs 10,000 to Rs 25,000. Similarly, girl students were now getting Rs 50,000 on being graduate while earlier they were receiving only Rs 25,000, Nitish said.
Schools having teaching facilities upto 12th standard, were opened in every panchayat to improve number of girls getting quality education. Now, number of girls and boys in schools was almost the same, he pointed out. (UNI)
