SRINAGAR, Nov 20: The 39th Foundation Day of IGNOU was today celebrated across the country and the main function was held at the University Headquarters at New Delhi.
IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar also celebrated the function at the auditorium of SKIMS, Srinagar.
The function was graced by Director SKIMS Prof. Mohd Ashraf Ganie as Chief Guest, while Prof. Shahid Rasool, Dean Academic Affairs CUK and Dr. Gh. Hassan Yatoo Head Department of Hospital Administration SKIMS and Coordination IGNOU Study Centre were the guests of honour.
Director SKIMS in his presidential address said, “It is a pride moment for SKIMS to host the 39th Foundation Day of World’s largest Open University.”
He emphasised that true education revolves around a strong moral foundation and skills.
“All of us must preserve the cultural ethics and human values that he described as a strong weapon of any developed Nation,” he added.
Prof Shahid Rasool termed learners of the 21st Century as digital natives and talked about blended learning.
Prof. Gh. Hassan Yatoo in his address congratulated IGNOU Regional Centre Srinagar for celebration of 39th Foundation Day and commended the role which IGNOU is playing in the state of Jammu & Kashmir particularly in Kashmir division.
Dr. A. H. Rizvi, Regional Director IGNOU, Kashmir also motivated learners to learn IGNOU materials thoroughly and make the career bright.
He said, “Learners are the future of the country, the future of the new generation. There is enough responsibility on their shoulders, we expect a lot from you. Be ready to serve the community as well as the country.”
The event was attended by the fresh Learners of July 2024 admission session, Guests, officials from SKIMS, former Regional Director, Regional Director MANUU.
Dr Sheikh Tanveer, Dr. Mohd Hussain, Bilquees Ara, Rehana, Coordinators of GDC Ganderbal, GDC Magam, Bibi Halima and College of Nursing, SKIMS were also present on the occasion.
