LEH, Nov 23: Union Minister of Power and Housing & Urban Affairs, Manohar Lal Khattar, visited the 45 MW NHPC Nimoo Bazgo Power Station in Leh on November 22, 2024.
RK Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) of NHPC, along with senior officials, welcomed the Minister during his visit.
Accompanying the CMD were Ram Swaroop, Executive Director of NHPC Regional Office Jammu, Suprakash Adhikari, Executive Director (O&M), and Jitendra Kumar, Head of Power Station (HoPS) of Nimoo Bazgo and Chutak Power Stations.
Other senior officers and employees of NHPC Nimoo Bazgo Power Station were also present.
The Union Minister toured various sites at the power station and was briefed by the CMD on its operations.
Chaudhary highlighted the station’s contributions to power generation and shared details about welfare activities undertaken for the local community under NHPC’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
Commending the team for their dedication in managing the power station under challenging conditions, the Minister underscored the Government’s commitment to renewable energy and environmental sustainability.
He urged NHPC to continue its efforts in maintaining a stable power supply and exploring opportunities for green energy development in the region.
The 45 MW Nimoo Bazgo Power Station, developed by NHPC, harnesses the power of the Indus River to provide clean and reliable energy to Ladakh.
It is a vital component of the region’s energy landscape, contributing significantly to the Government’s clean energy goals.
