LEH, Nov 24: Dr Shiv Darshan Singh Jamwal, the Director General of Police (DGP) of Ladakh, conducted a two-day visit to Nubra Sub-Division, located along the Indo-Pak border.
The visit aimed to assess the security situation, inspect policing activities, and evaluate ongoing infrastructure projects of the Ladakh Police in the region.
The DGP was accompanied by senior officers including Stanzin Nurboo, AIG of Police Provision; Regzin Sangdup, Additional SP Leh, and Ghulam Ali, DySP Provision, Police Headquarters, Ladakh.
Dr Jamwal inaugurated a new Jawan’s Barrack and Police Officer’s Transit Camp at the Police Station in Deskit, Nubra. The inauguration was attended by a large gathering of local residents and Nubra Sub-Division officers.
In his address to the community, DGP Dr Jamwal congratulated the people of Nubra for the announcement of Nubra district by the Government of India. He acknowledged the region’s long-standing history of contributing to national integrity and maintaining law and order during difficult times.
Dr Jamwal emphasized that Ladakh Police has been working tirelessly to improve facilities and provide better policing services to the region, with a focus on the unique challenges posed by the harsh winter climate.
The newly constructed buildings in Nubra are designed as passive solar-efficient structures to ensure a comfortable stay for police personnel, especially during the extreme winter months.
Dr Jamwal also visited Turtuk, where he inaugurated a newly constructed Jawans’ Barrack at the Police Post. He held a public meeting with local civilians to address their concerns and reaffirm the police’s commitment to their welfare and continued support.
Dr Jamwal also interacted with the general public and local representatives, listening to their grievances and assuring them that issues related to police and other concerns would be taken up with the concerned departments for resolution.
The DGP inspected key police facilities, including the functioning of the Crime and Criminal Tracking Network & Systems (CCTNS), CCTV surveillance, PolNeT, and police wireless services, all of which play a vital role in ensuring public safety in the region.
During their visit, the police team was warmly welcomed by the local communities in Deskit and Turtuk with a grand traditional reception.
