SRINAGAR, Nov 24: Apni Party president Altaf Bukhari today said that false and misleading propaganda against Apni Party led to its defeat in the Assembly elections. However, he asserted that “those who misled the people and secured votes through unattainable and false promises and emotional sloganeering will soon be exposed, as they will fail to deliver on their poll commitments.”
“Over time, people will realise that those who secured votes by making grand promises will be unable to fulfill them, both on political and economic fronts, simply because their commitments were neither realistic nor achievable,” Bukhari said while addressing a party workers’ convention in North Kashmir’s Uri constituency.
The event was attended by party leaders and workers from across the constituency. It was aimed to deliberate on certain party matters, review the current political scenario, and address important public issues and grievances.
Speaking on the occasion, Bukhari urged the leaders and workers from the constituency to continue their sincere efforts to serve the people. “Our commitment is to uphold the politics of honesty and integrity for the greater good of the people, and we are in politics to serve the people. Time will prove that the Apni Party’s agenda, which was outlined on its inception day -March 8, 2020, is deeply rooted in a realistic approach. There is no doubt that August 5, 2019, was a black day in the history of Jammu and Kashmir. On this day, our dignity, special status, and rights were taken away. It deeply pained our hearts, and it continues to hurt us,” he added.
“However, the politics of truthfulness and realism teaches us to move forward with dreams of a better future. We cannot afford to keep the future of our youth and coming generations hanging in uncertainty or continue wailing on the events of August 5. Reality might be bitter and not politically beneficial, but Apni Party is committed to speaking the truth,” he said.
“It is true that the NC has regained power after about 15 years, but that does not mean it will resort to taking revenge on its political opponents,” he added.
Bukhari asked the party leaders and workers to rejuvenate themselves and start their sincere efforts to serve the people in their respective areas of the constituency.
Prominent party leaders, including district president for Baramulla, Shabir Ahmad Shah; vice president Mehmood Bukhari, party in-charge for Uri constituency, Ch Mushtaq and and all block presidents were present on the occasion.
