JAMMU, Nov 24: The Jammu & Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) working president, Raman Bhalla today said that his party will always stand for the rights of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He said development, dignity and peace in J&K are the top priorities of Congress.
He made these remarks while interacting with people of Simbal Camp in RS Pura, Jammu South constituency. Bhalla said Congress will teach the BJP that truth works in this country and not money, power and arrogance. He also accused the BJP of pursuing “jingoistic and divisive” politics and said every attempt to weaken the Congress is bound to fail as nobody can kill the ideology and philosophy of the party.
Bhalla further said both Jammu and Kashmir are equal in every respect and Congress will fight for the rights of the people of J&K. He assured the people that his party will always fight for the restoration of Statehood to J&K. Expressing disappointment over the Statehood issue, he stressed the need for restoring Statehood in J&K at the earliest. He said Congress is always for the welfare of the people of J&K and thus will always be committed to the goal of serving the people.
“Congress agenda has always been the restoration of Statehood, development, dignity and peace in J&K,” he said, adding that any laws which do not safeguard the interests and rights of people of J&K would be unacceptable to Congress,” he remarked.
Bhalla expressed the confidence that new Govt would fulfill its electoral promises which will be beneficial for all sections of society. He said one common concern of the people from various districts raised was the rising electricity cost. “Electricity bills have been increasing rapidly, and it becomes difficult for people to afford them,” Bhalla said.
Additionally, many elderly citizens are awaiting their old-age pensions, which have been delayed for months. “We hope the new government will release their pension installments and increase the amount as well,” said Bhalla.
