JAMMU, Nov 25: Kashmiri Pandits held a convention at Jagti township today in which the issues confronting the exiled Pandits were deliberated in detail and concern was shown over the stoic silence of the successive Governments on permanent rehabilitation of displaced Pandits who are living in exile for last 36 years after they were hounded out from Kashmir by Pak sponsored terrorism in year 1989 and 1990.
Prof K N Pandita a well known scholar and community think tank was the chief guest on the occasion while Vijay Bakaya former MLC and ex Chief secretary, Prof Ashok Aima, ex VC Central University Jammu, Prof B L Zutshi, president Hindu Education Society Kashmir (HESK), BL Bhat president Shri Rama Krishana Maha Samelan Ashram (SRMA) Nagdandi and M K Yogi senior KP leader were the guest speakers.
They spoke at length on the problems being faced by displaced Pandits and failure of successive Governments in settling them in accordance to aspirations of the community.
They, while giving main thrust to rehabilitation issue of the community alleged it has been put in oblivion by the Government.
The speakers opposed that no piecemeal return was acceptable to the community. It was decided that the community will itself frame a concrete roadmap for return after discussions with cross section of displaced people.
The convention was orgnised by the Core Committee including Girdhari Lal Raina, Ravi Raina, ,Surinder Kumar Bhat and Dilip Pandita.
Sanjay Dhar president DPAP Displaced Wing, Moti Lal Pandita, Vir Ji Belove, Roshan Lal Bhat, Rajinder Dhar, Bushan Lal Tej Dhar, Comrade Mohan Lal, Bushan Lal Hangloo and many others also spoke on the occasion.
In his address K N Pandita stressed unity at grass root level in the community. He said the unity of perception is must and community leadership should seriously ponder over it.
Vijay Bakya said community has itself to frame a return module and it needs collective efforts to frame a road map for honourable and dignified return. Prof Ashok Aima stressed on creating institutions for empowerment of community. He said it is high time for community to pool its resources for establishing Sharda University and asked HESK to take lead in this regard.
Prof BL Zutshi said no return formula can be deliberated in isolation and community needs to be taken into confidence and its apprehensions be addressed. Swami Kumar said Shrimad Bhagwat Geeta is the only guide for the community at this juncture.
M K Yogi said no return formula in piecemeal can be acceptable.
