JAMMU, Nov 25: A very large gathering of Mirpuries residing in almost all the sectors of Jammu city including men, women and school students, here today paid rich tribute to the martyrs of Mirpur city.

A handout stated that these martyrs numbering more than 18000 were brutally killed by the raiders on November 25, 26 and 27, 1947 for their only fault that they in a united manner vowed not to bow before Pakistan army till they had last bullet to fight.
On this occasion, a Prabhat Pheri was taken out from Bakshi Nagar with the support of similar Prabhat Pheries from Gurha, Rehari and Sarwal areas also and homage was paid to the martyrs at Mirpur Shaheedi Smarak situated at Maheshpura Chowk.
Many speakers delivered thrilling speeches and recited pathetic poems which left the listeners with tears.
The main rally from Bakshi Nagar was organized by the members of Mirpur Shaheedi Smarak Welfare Committee Jammu and it culminated with a word of thanks from the chairperson Dr Virender Mahajan. During rally, many patriots of Mirpur Community namely Dayal House, Adarsh Trading Company and Sanjeev Traders of Bakshi Nagar served light refreshment to the participants of the rally.
After rally, a Havan was also organized at Arya Samaj Mirpur Balidan Bhawan Bakshi Nagar to pay tribute to the martyrs.
