HYDERABAD, Nov 25 : Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday clarified the state government’s position regarding the ongoing controversy involving prominent industrialist Gautam Adani.
Talking to the media, here on Monday, the Chief Minister firmly denied allegations of accepting funds from Adani, stating that Telangana has consistently adhered to legal processes for all investments.
Referring to the Rs 100 crore donation offered by the Adani Group to Telangana Skills University, Reddy explained that while the company had made the offer as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility, the state government decided against accepting the funds to avoid unnecessary controversies.
“We have written to the Adani Group, informing them not to transfer the Rs 100 crore. Telangana has no connection to the disputes surrounding Adani in other states or countries,” he said.
The Chief Minister emphasised that the Skills University, established to empower youth through skill development, should not become a target of political controversies. “The university is a symbol of progress, and we appeal to all to refrain from politicising this matter,” he added.
On his visit to Delhi, Reddy dismissed speculation about political motives, clarifying that his trip was to attend the wedding of Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla’s daughter.
However, he mentioned plans to meet Union Ministers to push for the release of pending funds and permissions due to Telangana.
“Securing funds for Telangana is our right, not a favour. These are public funds, not BJP’s party treasury,” he remarked, criticizing the BJP-led central government for withholding state allocations.
Reddy also accused the BJP of hypocrisy, alleging its leaders had ties with the Adani Group while criticizing the Telangana government. “Unlike KCR’s regime, we have not entered into questionable deals with Adani. Their accusations are baseless,” he asserted.
Speaking on Congress’ recent successes, including Priyanka Gandhi’s strong victory in Wayanad, the CM said the BJP was facing rejection nationwide. He expressed surprise at BJP leaders celebrating minor wins despite their dwindling influence across the country.
Reddy reaffirmed his government’s commitment to Telangana’s development, urging critics to set aside political biases. “This is not the time for anger or resentment. We are dedicated to moving forward for the betterment of our state,” he said.
