NEW DELHI, May 9: Supported by rise in domestic and export demand, jeera prices higher by 0.65 per cent to Rs 10,790 per quintal in futures trade today as speculators built up positions.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, jeera for delivery in May rose by Rs 70, or 0.65 per cent to Rs 10,790 per quintal with an open interest of 2,892 lots.
Similarly, the spice for delivery in June traded higher by the same margin to Rs 10,915 per quintal in 8,235 lots.
Analysts attributed the rise in jeera futures to fresh positions built-up by speculators, driven by pick up in demand in the spot market amid restricted arrivals from producing belts. (PTI)
