Drug peddler arrested

SRINAGAR, Nov 27: Police today arrested a drug peddler in Srinagar and recovered psychotropic substances, including 15 bottles of codeine phosphate, from his possession.
According to authorities, a team from M.R. Gunj Police Station apprehended the accused, identified as Altaf Ahmad Shah, son of Ghulam Hassan Shah, a resident of Dalal Mohalla, Zainakadal.
“The police team recovered 500 tablets of a banned composition and 15 bottles of codeine phosphate from a Hyundai i20 (registration number JK15A-8122) driven by the accused,” police said.
The police stated that the accused had intentionally concealed the substances in the boot cavity and beneath the driver’s seat of the car.
“The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized,” they added.
A case has been registered under FIR No. 48/2024 in M.R. Gunj Police Station under relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is underway.
