Rajdhani Express derails in MP

BHOPAL, May 10:
A major mishap was today averted when the engine of Chennai-Hazrat Nizamuddin Rajdhani Express derailed between Sanchi and Salamatpur stations on the Bhopal-Bina railway track near this Madhya Pradesh capital.
Railway sources said that a herd of cattle suddenly came on the track at around 0930 hrs, forcing the driver to apply brakes, causing the derailment.
The train was running at a speed of over 100 km per hour and timely response by the motorman prevented a major tragedy.
Some cattle heads were run over by the locomotive. No passenger was hurt, but they were jolted by the sudden application of brakes.
Traffic was affected on the route for about three-and-half hours.
The train departed for the destination with the help of another engine. Bhopal Divisional Railway Manager Rajiv Choudhary rushed to the spot, along with a team and inspected the situation. (UNI)
