NEW DELHI, May 11:
A day after Narendra Modi’s long meeting with RSS top brass, BJP President Rajnath Singh today met Sangh leaders and is believed to have discussed the party strategy as the final phase of Lok Sabha polls come to an end tomorrow.
Top RSS leaders including Bhaiyaji Joshi and RSS points man in dealing with BJP Suresh Soni held a closed-door meeting with the BJP president for nearly two hours at the RSS office in Jhandewalan.
Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat was not present at the meeting.
Singh’s meeting with RSS leaders comes a day after BJP’s prime ministerial candidate held a meeting with Bhagwat yesterday.
Singh is believed to have discussed the party strategy keeping in view of the last phase of polling tomorrow and counting of votes on May 16.
Asked about the meeting, sources close to the BJP President said, “RSS workers have worked hard at the ground level to make BJP candidates win in the elections and Rajnathji has come to express his gratitude for this to Sangh.”
Asked whether any post-poll strategy was discussed in the meeting, sources said, “Sangh does not discuss strategy.”
Modi yesterday joined Bhagwat, his deputy Joshi and Soni, at the Sangh headquarters where they are learnt to have reviewed the future course of action and current campaign strategy.
Sangh workers have campaigned extensively for BJP in eastern UP where the party seeks to dramatically improve its fortunes.
The meeting had also discussed the current political situation, the sources had said.
The last phase of Lok Sabha polling will be held tomorrow, including in Varanasi, from where Modi is contesting. He is pitted against AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal and Congress’ Ajay Rai. (PTI)
