JAMMU, Dec 3: Strongly condemning the purported remarks of Cabinet Minister Satish Sharma against SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Katra, doctors and entire staff of the hospital have appealed Chief Minister to intervene for action and getting the derogatory statement withdrawn.
Through a memorandum submitted to the Chief Minister, these doctors and staff have termed the controversial remarks as utterly irresponsible, devoid of any factual basis, and an attempt to sensationalize controversy at the expense of the hospital’s reputation as well morale of the dedicated healthcare professionals.
“Such baseless allegations have not only demoralized the doctors and healthcare workers at SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, but have also instilled fear and anxiety among our patients and their families,” reads the memorandum, claiming that many patients who have received treatment at the Narayana hospital have expressed their anguish and disbelief at such an outrageous characterization of the institution.
Reminding that SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital has consistently been one of the top service providers under the PMJAY Ayushman Bharat scheme for the last four years, delivering quality healthcare to countless individuals, including the underprivileged, signatories to the memorandum said that their dedication to ethical medical practices stand in stark contrast to the disparaging remarks made by the minister.
“The trust that our community places on us is evident, as our hospital ICUs consistently operates at near full capacity, prompting our expansion into a medical college and more beds to better serve the needs of the population. Given the severity of these provocations, we formally demand that the Cabinet Minister should withdraws his statements and issues an unconditional apology to the doctors and staff of SMVD Narayana Superspeciality Hospital,” reads the memorandum, further requesting the Chief Minister to take appropriate action for restoring trust and respect towards the selfless services rendered by healthcare providers in J&K.
