Tourism Deptt organises cultural programme at Patnitop

JAMMU, May 11: In its endeavour to increase more facilities at various tourists spot, Tourism Department has initiated to organize cultural programme at Patnitop on every Saturday evening.
A colourful cultural programme was organized by Tourism Department at Patnitop on Saturday.
Deputy Commissioner Udhampur, Yasha Mudgal was the chief guest. While speaking on the occasion, she complemented Tourism Department for organizing such a wonderful programme at Patnitop.
She said it was a long pending demand of tourists and the Tourism Department has fulfilled the same. She said this will help in showcasing the rich cultural heritage of our State. She emphasized the department to encourage the local talent to depict the local folk dances and folk lore of the area.
She asked the Tourism Department to explore the possibilities of organizing such programmes round the year and should make it a permanent feature.
Earlier, Director Tourism Jammu, Soujanya Sharma said that the Tourism Department had thought of organizing this cultural programme for the entertainment of the tourist visiting this spot much earlier and it has matured today. He said that the tourist will have the glimpses of our rich cultural heritage and will carry home the sweet memory of the evening spent amidst towering pine trees. He said the efforts will be made to increase the frequency of programme at Patnitop.
The Performers Group presented the cultural programme comprising Dogri dance, Punjabi dance and other folk dances. The tunes of Dogri songs compelled the tourist to come on the floor.
Among others present on the occasion CEO, Patnitop Development Authority, Dr Raman Kesar, Tourist Officer Batote, Mohan Lal Koul, President and General Secretary of Hotel Association Patnitop and large number of tourists and locals.
