JAMMU, May 12: Divisional Commissioner, Jammu Shantmanu last night flagged off daily bus service from Jammu to Haridwar for the facility of devotees. The bus was flagged off at 7.30 pm from General Bus Stand, Jammu.
The air conditioned Volvo Bus, with sleeping facility as well will be leaving Jammu bus stand daily late evening at 7.30 pm and reaching Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust premises Haridwar the next morning. Similarly, the A.C sleeping bus will be leaving Haridwar from Jammu Yatri Bhawan premises in the late evenings, to reach Jammu next morning.
Speaking at the flagging off ceremony, the Divisional Commissioner, Jammu lauded the start of bus service to Haridwar, which, he said, would benefit the pilgrims a lot. He assured that any problems faced in the bus-service would be resolved by him immediately.
This new A.C bus service being launched is in addition to SRTC bus service already running daily between Jammu and Haridwar. The new bus service is being pressed into service on the persistent demand of growing number of devotees visiting the holy town. This will facilitate those who go to Haridwar for performing last rites of their deceased relatives at the banks of Ganga.
On the occasion of flagging off the bus service, all the Trustees, Working Committee Members and staff of Jammu Yatri Bhawan Trust were present.
M/s Jamana Tour & Travel Jammu on the request of JYBT has extended this facility for providing Bus service from Jammu to Haridwar and vice versa. The poor person / pilgrims visiting Haridwar for immersion of ashes of their deceased relatives and who cannot afford the bus fare will be carried free of any charges as agreed to by Jamana Tour & Travels. This was announced at the flagging off ceremony by Pawan Shastri, the trustee of JYBT.
Mr Shastri announced that the bus would drop the pilgrims right up to Jammu Yatri Bhawan at Haridwar as it would stop and depart from there. He said as a gesture, the Yatri Bhawan would provide complimentary packed dinner to the pilgrims travelling in the bus on their return journey.
