JAMMU, Dec 9: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu is set to host the Grand Finale of the Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2024 Software Edition on 11th and 12th December.
It is expected that the Prime Minister will inaugurate the event, underscoring its national significance.

This was informed by Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur, Director, IIT Jammu in a press conference held here today.

Prof. Manoj Singh Gaur said, “We aim to provide experiential learning opportunities to our students, encouraging them to innovate and contribute to India’s future vision of 2047, where innovation is at the forefront.”
“Our Community Innovation Center, set to open next year, will further strengthen the ecosystem, offering young innovators a platform to experiment, ideate, and execute,” he added.
The 36-hour non-stop hackathon will bring together teams of students and their mentors from across the country to address real-world problem statements.
Notably, the National Critical Information Infrastructure Protection Centre (NCIIPC) has floated six problem statements, focusing on pressing challenges in the software domain.
This Software Edition will precede the Hardware Edition, which will be conducted later.
The event is part of the larger vision to foster innovation at IIT Jammu, which is becoming a hub for startups and entrepreneurial initiatives.
The institution has integrated Design, Invention, Practicum, and the CBD program into its curriculum, offering students hands-on, experiential learning opportunities.
Additionally, IIT Jammu is now offering an Entrepreneurship Minor to further inspire and nurture entrepreneurial talent.
With initiatives like SIH 2024 and its growing emphasis on entrepreneurship, IIT Jammu is positioning itself as a key driver of India’s innovation landscape.
The institution’s forward-thinking approach aligns with the Prime Minister’s vision of nurturing a generation of problem-solvers who can propel the nation into a future marked by technological excellence and societal impact.
