Army Cmdr, DG BRO call on Governor

Srinagar, July 7: Lt. Gen K.T. Parnaik, Northern Army Commander, called on N N Vohra, Governor, at Raj Bhawan here this evening.
During their hour long meeting, the Northern Army Commander briefed the Governor about various matters relating to security management, particularly in the context of the ongoing Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra and certain terrorist incidents in the past days.
Lt. Gen. Om Parkash,Corps Commander, 15 Corps, was present during the meeting.
Meanwhile, Lt. Gen. S. Ravishankar, Director General, Border Roads Organization, called on Mr Vohra at Raj Bhavan here this evening.
During their meeting, Lt. Gen. Ravishankar briefed the Governor about the status of construction and maintenance of various road projects being executed by the Border Roads Organization to provide connectivity to the far-flung and remote areas in the State.
The Governor stressed the vital importance of the various road building projects being completed within the envisaged time frames as delays not only cause enormous problems for the inhabitants of the unconnected areas but also thwart the rapid development of isolated regions.
The Governor and DG, BRO, also discussed issues relating to improvement of traffic flows on roads leading to the entry points of the two routes to the Shri Amarnathji Yatra.
Navin K. Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor and Chief Executive Officer of the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board, and Brig. T. P. S. Rawat, Chief Engineer, Project Beacon, were present in the meeting.
